At our lodge we have a botanical garden that consists of an area dedicated to the care and planting of endemic plants, which in turn attract a large number of birds, especially hummingbirds.

The trail is 800 meters long and takes approximately one hour to complete.

Our goal is to generate and care for habitat for different species of plants, birds and insects!

San Gerardo de Dota is an internationally recognized destination for bird watching, its mountains are home to a wide variety of species.

On the quetzal watching tour we will visit places where they usually feed, so we can see the most beautiful bird in the world: the quetzal.

The walk is short. 

We also offer guided bird watching tours in our botanical garden. With the help of the guide and his team, you will discover not only the variety but also the beauty of the fauna that surrounds us.

You will have 3.5 hours of adventure, accompanied by a local guide, learning interesting facts about the Buena Vista Hill moor and contemplating its beautiful views.

If you are looking for exercise and want to explore the interior of the mountains, we recommend this tour, which lasts 4 to 6 hours.
Difficulty: medium-high

On this tour you will enjoy a beautiful horseback ride through the mountains and the Savegre River. It is an adventure suitable for the whole family and with different routes according to the preferences of the visitors.
We guarantee that it will be an unforgettable experience and a way to get to know even more about the nature and landscapes of our town.

This tour starts very early, we welcome the sunrise in the San Gerardo valley surrounded by nature.
Later we will go to observe the most majestic bird that inhabits these mountains: the quetzal.
After sighting quetzals we return to the hotel to enjoy breakfast.
The last part will be dedicated to a bird tour, to observe some of the many species of birds that San Gerardo has, and that position it internationally in this activity.

In a full-day experience we will carry out different activities so that you can learn about and enjoy the natural riches of the area, as well as observe its fauna.

This experience includes the Quetzal Sighting tour, the Páramo tour, the Bird Sighting tour and the Night tour.

It consists of a walk through the forest to observe nocturnal birds in their natural habitat. In addition, when night falls, you can see some mammals that come out at these hours in search of their daily food.
